Altea is a town located north of Alicante on the Costa Blanca, with a population of over 25,000 people and with Valenciano as the main language. The postcode of Altea is 03590, the town is based on tourism which started growing in the 1950s due to great weather, beaches and in a town with a lot of character. Altea is protected on the north by the bluffs of the Serra de Bernia which has created a mild microclimate.

During the moorish domination the land around Altea belonged to Taifa of Denia until it was recaptured by the Christians in 1244 under James I of Aragon. The town was fortified and walls were built to enclose what is now know was the old town, from outsiders. Some features in Altea include the Church La Mare De Deu Del Consol which means Our lady of solace. There are plenty of restaurants around the church even including views of the Mediterranean.

The town is great for explorers due to that certain roads are off limits to cars, due to roads being too narrow, steep or they will have steps so using a car is not always an option.Another fantastic place to visit is located near the cliffs and towards Calpe, it is the biggest port of Altea and perfect place for all different types of sea activity including sailing, Jet Ski, excursions. There is also fantastic food, outdoor lounging areas with sea front views.
